Serving in England

Bethany McNeeley

In May 2013, I said yes to a 12-day mission trip to Stockton on Tees, England. Just three months later I found myself on a plane headed back to the United Kingdom to serve with Tees Valley Youth for Christ. One year quickly turned into more. After three years of serving with a local Church, discipling young girls, engaging with local schools, and building relationships in Hartlepool it was time to move on. I moved to a village called Norton (30 min. from where I previously served) and worked at St. Mary’s Church as a Youth and Children’s Worker. Along with being a Line Manager and Pastoral Care Mentor with Tees Valley Youth for Christ. For the past four years, I have seen God move in so many different ways. I have been able to engage and build relationships with seven schools, provide free meals and activities for hundreds of children, and most importantly I have seen God transform the lives of those He has called me to.

My time as a Youth and Children’s worker with St. Mary’s Church and a Line Manager for Tees Valley Youth for Christ has come to an end. However, my time in England is not over!

In September, I will move to Durham, England. Where I will attend Cranmer Hall at Durham University and will be working towards a BA in Theology, Missions, and Ministry. Through the college I will be training to become an Ordained Minister with the Church of England. I will also be serving in local Churches across the North East gaining experience in urban churches, rural churches, hospital ministries, prison ministries, and community outreach.

A new chapter is unfolding. However, the mission is still the same.

• ‘The harvest is plentiful and the workers are few…’ (Luke 10:2)
• ‘Go and make disciples…’ (Matthew 28)
